Revealed: 65% of Newcastle fans want to take a chance on Ings

Danny Ings was hot property when he moved to Anfield from Burnley in 2015, and Newcastle fans would love to bring the striker to Tyneside.

Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle have been extremely short of goals this season, and fans are desperate for a summer signing to fix that.

Dwight Gayle is a fan favourite, but hasn’t really managed to convert his fantastic Championship form into Premier League goals. Joselu has failed to make the impact Rafa would have wanted, and Aleksandar Mitrović was shipped to Fulham in January.

People often forget just how good Danny Ings was at Burnley, scoring 38 league goals for the Clarets including 11 in his final season at Turf Moor.

Knee injuries have destroyed his career at Anfield, and Liverpool fans expect another striker to be signed to support Roberto Firmino.

With Ings looking to restart his Premier League career and Newcastle in desperate need of some goals, could it be a match made in heaven? 65 per cent of Newcastle fans think so.

If Benitez went into next season with Ings, Gayle and Mitrovic being supplied by a new signing at the number ten position, Newcastle could certainly push on for a place in the top ten.

Missing out on Rodrigues is no big loss to West Ham United

West Ham United are expected to miss out on the signing of Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues, according to Turkish-Football.com.

What’s the story?

The news outlet claims that the Hammers had a £10m bid rejected by Galatasaray earlier this month as the club are looking for a figure in the region of £15m.

It is believed that Newcastle United were also interested in signing the 27-year-old, but Turkish-Football.com reports that Rodrigues is happy at his current club.

The Cape Verde international reportedly has no intention of leaving Galatasaray at the end of the season, but it seems that the Hammers have failed to meet the price valuation anyway.

This season, Rodrigues has made 25 appearances in the Super Lig, scoring six goals and creating eight assists.

Should West Ham try harder to get him?

In all honesty, bringing Rodrigues to the London Stadium would present a risk for the Hammers, mainly due to his lack of experience in English football.

The winger has played in the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Spain, Greece and now Turkey, therefore it would be a big ask to throw him into action at West Ham, particularly if they keep their place in the Premier League.

In addition, while Rodrigues’s figures are positive, they are not outstanding, and if he was seen as the answer to David Moyes’s problems, then they should have a rethink.

The East London outfit should target attack-minded players who have proven themselves in English football.

The board also need to loosen the pursestrings slightly as they will end up being blown out of the water by clubs willing to spend more.

Marcus Rashford has been TOLD to sign for one of Man United’s BIGGEST rivals

Former Newcastle United forward Micky Quinn has urged Marcus Rashford to quit Manchester United and join Arsenal at the end of the season.

Rashford is believed to be considering his future at Old Trafford amid suggestions that the 20-year-old is frustrated with his lack of starts at the Theatre of Dreams.

The England international has made 44 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils this season, but has struggled for a starting spot since Alexis Sanchez’s January arrival.

A number of Premier League clubs are said to be closely monitoring the situation surrounding the attacker, who has 12 goals to his name this season.

Quinn has insisted that Rashford will never be first choice under Jose Mourinho at United due to the presence of Romelu Lukaku, and has told the youngster to seek a move to Arsenal at the end of the season.

Quinn told talkSPORT:

“I think he’s got to go. He’s not a first choice for Jose Mourinho. He is not first choice. The kid is one of the most exciting players we’ve seen in a Manchester United shirt – I’ve got to say that.

“If he wants to be a regular, I don’t think it’s with Jose Mourinho. Lukaku is the first choice on the pitch. Arsenal, he’d walk in there.”

Rashford, who is valued at £45m by transfermarkt.co.uk, played the final eight minutes of United’s 3-2 win over Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has previously urged the Englishman to leave Old Trafford in this summer’s transfer window.

Man United fans rejoice as Mourinho rules out de Gea sale this summer

For all the talk of incomings at Manchester United this summer, the most important piece of business they can do in the upcoming transfer window is to keep David de Gea at Old Trafford.

Well, in his press conference ahead of the clash with Arsenal on Sunday, Jose Mourinho has revealed that is exactly what he feels will happen.

Losing the world’s best goalkeeper and arguably United’s only world-class player would undermine everything the club does in the transfer market in the summer and it is music to the ears of their fans that the club will not let him leave this summer.

The club’s fans want the goalkeeper to be their next captain and they are understandably overjoyed by Mourinho’s confidence that he will not depart this summer.

We’ve taken a look at some of the best reaction from the Reds’ fanbase as some of them believe Mourinho has been the key behind de Gea remaining at the club…

Newcastle fans loving incredible Diame stat

Newcastle fans are absolutely loving the form of Mo Diame, after one stat showed just how good the midfielder has been this season.

Six months ago, Mo Diame seemed to be reaching the end of his Newcastle career.

The 30 year-old certainly had the drive and athleticism, but he just didn’t seem to have the quality or commitment to succeed in the Premier League.

That has all changed since Christmas though, and it is no surprise that the Magpies’ turnaround has coincided with the Diame’s return to form.

The former Hull City man has been an absolute machine in the middle for the Magpies, forming a formidable midfield partnership with Jonjo Shelvey.

Diame has always looked good driving forward with the ball, but one defensive stat shows how much he’s developed into a complete player under Rafael Benitez.

According to FourFourTwo, the midfielder is averaging 3.5 tackles per 90 minutes in the Premier league, the second highest number in the division.

This number is even more impressive when considering how poor Diame was in the first half of the season, and fans are showing the love for their midfield man.

Florian Lejeune would feel hard done by if Newcastle sign Craig Dawson this summer

According to reports in the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are interested in signing West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson after the Baggies’ relegation to the Championship was confirmed on Tuesday night.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the west Midlands outfit could have taken their incredible battle to survival to the final day had Swansea City and Southampton drawn at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night, but Manolo Gabbiadini’s second-half goal saw Darren Moore’s men go down on the day he picked up the Premier League Manager of the Month award for April.

The Daily Mail says that Dawson will be a transfer target for a number of top flight clubs – including Celtic – this summer, with the Magpies already plotting a £15m move for the versatile 28-year-old.

How has Dawson done this season?

While it has clearly been a tough campaign for West Brom seeing as they have dropped into the Championship, the 28-year-old has been one of their most consistent performers.

He has played 27 Premier League matches in total – including five appearances at centre-back in recent weeks where the club picked 11 points from a possible 15 and kept clean sheets against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur – and he has kept captain Jonny Evans out of the side since Moore took over.

The versatile defender has shown his strength in the air and his ability to put his body on the line for his team, and it no surprise that a number of Premier League clubs could be taking a look at him this summer.

[ad_pod ]

Would he be a good signing for Newcastle?

He certainly would be, and one that the St James’ Park faithful, who have reacted on Twitter to the club’s reported interest in Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen, would soon take on as a fans’ favourite.

While the likes of Ciaran Clark and Florian Lejeune, who would feel particularly hard done by if the 28-year-old signs, have done well alongside captain Jamaal Lascelles this season, Dawson may well prove to be an upgrade and the perfect partner for the skipper because of the defensive qualities he would bring to the backline.

The fact that he is also a big danger in the opposition box – he has 12 goals in 179 appearances for the Baggies – would be a huge boost, and to get a player that is equally as comfortable playing as a centre-back or a right-back for £15m is an opportunity that Newcastle can’t afford to miss out on.

Liverpool fans hit out at Germany for not including Karius in World Cup squad

Loris Karius failed to get a look-in at Liverpool in the early stages of the season due to Simon Mignolet being ahead in the pecking order.

However, from the start of 2018, the goalkeeper’s fortunes changed as manager Jurgen Klopp handed him the number one role.

From that point on, Karius has been between the sticks, and he played a part in the Reds securing a top-four finish in the Premier League, as well as reaching the Champions League final.

The 24-year-old is expected to be in the first XI for what could be a very high-scoring showdown against Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26.

[ad_pod ]

In total, Karius has played in 32 games in all competitions this season for the Merseyside outfit and has kept 16 clean sheets.

On Tuesday, reigning world champions Germany announced their squad for the upcoming World Cup in Russia, and there was no place for the Liverpool shot-stopper.

Instead, Manuel Neuer, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Kevin Trapp and Bernd Leno made the 27-man provision setup.

Liverpool fans were not impressed.

HYS: Should Liverpool swoop for Italy legend Buffon?

It is no secret that Liverpool have had their fair share of woes when it comes to the goalkeeping department.

Simon Mignolet has always divided fans since his arrival from Sunderland in 2013, while Loris Karius has shown signs that he is not quite at the level required.

At the start of 2018, manager Jurgen Klopp promoted Karius to the number one role, and initially it proved to be the right call.

The German helped the Merseyside outfit claim fourth place in the Premier League table and be a significant part of their route to the Champions League final.

However, Karius can be prone to blunders, and if Liverpool want to take that step further and regularly challenge for league titles, then they require experience and know-how.

This leads us nicely to the news that Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon has decided to leave the Serie A giants after 17 years at the prestigious club.

While confirming the news to reporters on Thursday, the former Italy star revealed that he has received some “interesting proposals” that would see him continue playing next season.

Given that Buffon has played at the top level for more than a decade and has won nine league titles in his time, is he the right keeper to take Liverpool to that next level?

Aston Villa fans want Steve Bruce to go after play-off final defeat

Aston Villa supporters have had a difficult weekend after losing to Fulham in the English Championship play-off final on Saturday.

A first half Tom Cairney goal was enough for the Cottagers to gain promotion to the English Premier League at the Villans’ expense, meaning Steve Bruce’s side will have to undergo something of a rebuild over the summer.

However, the question is, will Bruce be in charge?

Fans have been left fuming with the failure to gain promotion given the resources and talent at Bruce’s disposal, with many believing the play-off defeat should spell the end of his time as manager of the club.

While recognising his efforts thus far, is it time for Villa to head in a new direction and perhaps appoint a younger manager with fresh ideas and a fresh outlook on the game?

Supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all after the match at Wembley…

Everton consider summer approach for Dragovic

According to the Leicester Mercury, Everton are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Aleksandar Dragovic in this summer’s transfer window.

What’s the story?

Dragovic spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Leicester, having made the move to the Foxes from Bundesliga giants Leverkusen on August 31.

The centre-back arrived with a big reputation, but struggled to gain a regular spot in the team – making just 11 Premier League appearances for the former English champions.

Leicester have the option to sign Dragovic on a permanent deal this summer, but the club are believed to be stalling on a move.

And as a result, Everton are considering an approach ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign, according to the Leicester Mercury.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”255610″ player=”12034″ title=”Watch Five England World Cup games you totally forgot happened”]

The report claims that Dragovic would be available for £15m, and West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion are also believed to be closely monitoring developments.

Should Everton make a move?

Dragovic attracted a lot of attention during his time at Dynamo Kiev, but it was Leverkusen that won the race to sign him in August 2016.

The Austria international struggled to make his mark during his first year in German football, however, and switched to Leicester last summer.

The 27-year-old, who is valued at £9m by transfermarkt.co.uk, found it difficult to secure a regular spot in the Foxes’ first XI last term – making just 16 appearances in all competitions.

There is no question that Everton need to improve their defence this summer following the arrival of new head coach Marco Silva, but it would be a surprise if they moved for a player who struggled to settle in the Premier League last term.

Indeed, it seems to make more sense to move for Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson, although the 25-year-old has only ever had one season at Premier League level.
